Understanding the Variables
- Event Type: Weddings and corporate events carry significantly higher stakes (and stress) than a casual Saturday night pub gig. Therefore, they command a premium rate.
- Experience: Beginners need to hustle to build a portfolio. Professional and Elite DJs are hired for their reliability, deep musical knowledge, and guaranteed ability to move a crowd.
- Equipment: If a promoter books you to play on their CDJ-3000s and Funktion-One sound system, you only charge a performance fee. If you are supplying the PA, subwoofers, lighting, and wireless mics, you are effectively running an AV rental business on top of performing—your quote must reflect this capital expense.
